Modify the blog

On the first page there is a summary of all the most recent blog posts. Well its not a summary, its just all the blog posts one after the other. I would like to have instead of this a list with all blog posts, the selected image and a brief summary. How can i modify this? I dont program PHP but i do program C# and Javascript so i van probably try and so some light modification.
