• I am very new to WordPress and slowly learning, but I have had some trouble figuring out where I need to look and what I need to alter in order to achieve this result.

Here is the site I am experimenting with: http://beirie.co/

I am using a child of Twentythirteen and need help working out what part of the CSS I need to edit to create a fixed-width layout similar to the one on this site: http://www.prayforparis.com/

    Thank you in advance

  • Try using Firefox with the Firebug add-on for this kind of CSS troubleshooting. Or use whatever developer tool is available in your web browser.

I’ve used the Chrome equivalent of that, but Ive still been having trouble identifying what element it is whose attributes I’d like to change. Furthermore, I am unsure as to how to add an image as a background (to be seen on the left and right edge)

Any help with these specific problems would be greatly appreciated

I’d suggest using a different theme if you want a fixed width site like the one you linked to above. It will be a lot of work to recode twentythirteen to look like that…
