I want to disable Monitor Online Visitors.

To disable the “Monitor Online Visitors” feature in WP Statistics and improve performance, go to Statistics > Settings > General and uncheck the “Online User Tracking” option. This stops tracking active visitor sessions while keeping general traffic statistics active. Ensure to save changes and clear caches afterward.

But I can find it there. Have you removed or changed this?

    Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out, and apologies for the confusion, the answer you quoted is outdated (it looks AI-generated from older documentation). The setting it describes no longer exists in current versions of WP Statistics, which is why you couldn’t find it.

    Here’s what actually changed:

In v14.16 (released December 2025) we rebuilt the online-visitor tracking to remove the heartbeat requests that used to fire periodically from every page. Because the heavy part of that feature is gone, server load is no longer a reason to disable it, so we removed the on/off checkbox from Settings → General. Online visitor tracking now runs quietly in the background with minimal overhead.

If your goal was to improve performance: the v14.16 change already does that, you don’t need to disable anything.

If your goal is something else (hiding the widget, regulatory/consent reasons, a specific metric you don’t want collected, etc.), please reply with a bit more detail about what you’re trying to achieve and we’ll point you to the right option.

    Hope that helps!

Yes sir, this was about the performance. Thank you!
