Sorry, you can’t lower the sidebar to display your image full-width. But if you are familiar with coding, you are of course allowed to modify the theme as you like.
If you need a full-width widget area specifically on your front page, this is something that would be available in the premium version of MH Magazine. You can check the theme demo of the premium theme to see how that could look like.

Sorry, that’s nothing we can help you with here as we can’t provide free support for custom coding / theme customizations. These kind of modifications affect several elements of the theme and can’t be done by adding a few lines of code.
If you want to modify the theme to meet your requirements, you should create a child theme and then customize everything as you like. In case you are not familiar with coding, you could for example hire a freelancer who can do it for you.
I’m having the exact same question. Could you direct us to an appropriate place to look for how to do this? Or which pages we should be editing. I am an experienced coder but completely new to the wordpress CMS

But if you are an experienced developer and want to modify the theme, you could create a child theme for this.
If you want to customize the widget areas on the front page, you can do this within the file homepage.php and for other posts/pages, you could have a look at the WordPress Template Hierarchy.
