Real site links may help?
I read through the forums hoping to find a solution, which lead me to view some of the .php files. Apparently I didn’t have ‘permission’ to move them.
Fine.
I uploaded the backups and the files seem to actually be there now. However, I’m still unable to reach the dashboard or the actual site. I log in just fine and then stare at the index of the wp-admin folder.
Any thoughts?
Upon recommendation in other threads, I put all my plugins on hold (changed plugins folder plugins.hold). I then closed my browser, deleted cookies, etc.
I was able to access the log-in page, and log-in, but it still takes me to a list of the files in the wp-admin folder rather than the dashboard.
Upon reviewing other threads, I checked the htaccess.php file for mentions of the old url, as well as the wp-config.php, and changed them all.
Still nothing.
I checked domain.com/wp-admin and received the same ‘index’ list appearing where my dashboard and site should be.
I can’t believe I’m the only person to ever have this problem. Please help.
Out of desperation, I deleted all the wordpress files on both the old and new domain, then uploaded a five day old backup onto the old domain, thinking that it should reset everything the way it was before I tried to move it.
Not really.
http://www.livingdonor101.com/blog is messed up, and http://www.livingdonor101.com/wp-admin doesn’t exist at all.
What the hell?
I spent an incredible amount of time customizing the theme (through the theme itself, not via code changes) so I really, REALLY don’t want to have to completely uninstall and do a clean reinstall of WordPress, thereby COMPLETELY STARTING OVER, but without some help from someone, I don’t see how it can be avoided.
Theme options/customization are in the wp-contents folder and/or the MySQL DB. A proper backup of both would allow a site restoration unless your original core files upload was from a third party (theme dev etc) and they were customized.
I just updated a blog ten minutes ago to WP3.3 with no issues, kept the wp-contents folder as was (using ftp) removed all other files (they were un-edited WP3.2.1 files), uploaded WP3.3 files except wp-contents folder, put back the web.config (.htaccess if Linux), wp-config.php..etc…all is well…put site in maintenance mode first, of course. Took 40 minutes including full backups.
I gave up and did a clean install via Fantastico (how I did my prior installs months ago with NO problems). I still cannot access the dashboard or the site.
http://livingdonorsarepeopletoo.com/wp-admin/ gives me an index list of the folder wp-admin, as does the site http://www.livingdonorsarepeopletoo.com
What on god’s green earth could be causing this problem???
I just went through my file manager and made sure all the wp files were deleted from the original installation, http://www.livingdonor101.com/blog then did a second install on http://www.livingdonorsarepeopletoo.com
I’m still unable to access the dashboard or site and see nothing but a list of the wp-admin files.
Fantastico did install v 2.9.2 as opposed to the most recent version. Could this be a factor?
