• Is there any way to move comments to another category? Is there a way to shut off the capability to put a comment on a page? Thanks, Jack

  • Comments are attached to a post, so there is no ‘other category’. You might be able to move them to a different post using techniques described here:

    http://www.tripwiremagazine.com/2010/06/4-ways-to-move-wordpress-comments.html

To prevent comments on a page, edit the page and uncheck ‘Allow Comments’ below the text box, near the bottom.

If that checkbox is not visible, click on ‘Screen Options’ at the top right and check ‘Discussion’.

@vtxyzzy(I have no idea what that symbol is??:-)) Thanks,
Would you know how to make my home page show an abbreviated view of the post where you click to see the rest? Thanks again. Jack
P.S. Have you ever tried any of the Plugins that were recommended?

How to show an excerpt of the posts on the home page can vary from theme to theme. It also depends somewhat on whether your home page is a static page or a blog.

First look for a theme option to show excerpts instead of full posts for the appropriate location.

If you do not find that, try inserting a ‘more’ tag in the posts. In the standard WP editor, position the cursor where you want the text to stop and click the ‘Insert More Tag’ icon or press CTRL-SHIFT-T.

And, I have not tried any of the plugins to move comments.
