Moving Multisite Search and Replace Question

    Our site was on an old Joomla install and we decided to migrate to WordPress.

    We did this with FG Joomla to WordPress Premium and all went fairly well with only a few exceptions that were completely operator error (our images were not all suited for featured images, internal links, 2700+ posts).

    Our host got us a great new server that we moved to this weekend. The WordPress site was not quite ready to go but the Joomla site did not make the move well. So here is the predicament that I am in.

    When I set up the WP site I selected multisite and now have domain.com/site1 as the main site of install. I would like to move it to domain.com. I have read the great posts in the documentation on this and thank everyone that put them together.

    Here are my questions…
    1. The posts related to moving your multisite reference the search and replace tool. I am wondering if I need of this tool or if it is going to cause me more issues.
    a. there are of yet no new posts in the wp install that would include the current URL so if we move it to domain.com it shouldn’t break anything in the posts. Am I correct in this thinking?
    b. Where else could there be lingering URLs that we need to be aware of?

    Have you considered making the migration using these instructions? (which would not require database search & replace)

    I did end up following the instructions from here:

    And because I only had one site installed it was extremely easy. I was overly worried because I have very little experience with WP but to anyone that, like me, has little experience… TRUST THE DOCUMENTATION!

    Once I relaxed and went step by step, moving the WP Multisite install was very easy. I didn’t have any issues at all.

    Bet, thank you so much for responding to my post. I do appreciate your time. So far I have used WP to replace 3 other CMS and it is working great!
