Ok, I Have installed WordPress on my server. My friend has a site he wants to move over to mine. His copy of his site is all the wp files but they are not actually back up files, rather all the loose files in the directories. I can’t get a real back up file from his ex host. What is the best way to move this site on mine? I tried ftp all the files and folders but it doesn’t work. DB error.
Thoughts for a simple minded guy?

    Thanks!
    Bill

You can try to use this plugin:

    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/duplicator/

It will create a downloadable zipped file which contains the website and the database plus an installation php file that you put in the new server.

Hi Bill. If you’re trying to do it manually here’s a Codex reference that might help:

ok the duplicator doesn’t work. I don’t have access to the old server just the actual files on my local pc. Will try the codex. thanks
