• Hi,

I have two directories on my web server

    Directory one

    dandiesel.freehostia.com

    Directory two

    redsigndesign.com

My wordpress site is located in Directory 1. I want to move it to Directory 2.

    So far, I’ve tried:
Manually moving folders and updating wp-config/mysql database links/settings in wordpress, replacing all old directory URL’s in phpmyadmin with the new URL
Installing a clean wordpress in Directory 2, importing old posts etc

    I don’t use permalinks so I don’t have a .htaccess file.

None of these have worked, I continually run into ‘Not Found’ and 404 errors. I’ve tried everything I can think of at this stage.

When visitors go to redsigndesign.com, they can see my blog. But click on any of the other pages and they get dandiesel.freehostia.com/page instead of redsigndesign.com/page

    Not sure how to proceed..

    Can anyone help?

edit: I notice that my domain redsigndesign.com is redirecting to dandiesel.freehostia.com/wordpress, could this be affecting it? I’ll try and reinstall wp again and remove the redirect.

  • If you using linux server and Cpanel there has to be .htaccess file as that is created automatically it is hidden file that is why you do not see it.

Ah yes, how can I view hidden files in cpanel? Filezilla for Mac doesn’t have an option to view hidden files.

Change the urls in settings general move your files and folders to new directory and reset your permalinks
