• So I have been trying to solve this problem now for 2 weeks solid, I have read loads of other threads, but most people seem to be using JW Player with Amazon cloudfront & S3, which I cannot get my head around and is too overcomplicated for me! I was wondering if anyone can offer any assistance, this is the issue….

I am using S2member (version 131126) on WordPress (version 3.7.1) site using theme Spun.

I can get the mp3 file to play on PC, on iOS device, but the file will not play on any android browser.

I am using a direct link to S2member-files/*.mp3

I have tried flash players, javascript players and HTML5 players – all wordpress plugins with good reviews, but the problem remains the same. I can see the player, I can press the play button, but nothing plays, the time count remains 00:00 of 00:00, so I believe that the android browsers are not seeing or accessing the file in the protected folder. The player works perfectly on a page that has a link to an mp3 in an unprotected folder, see here:

I have tried using the various mod-rewrite options from the download options guide, but nothing seems to be working, the file names are definitely correct and are not too long.

I have tried having just one mp3 on the page instead of multiple mp3′s, and that makes no difference either.

There are various pages with mp3s on, but here are links to 2 of them:

Any help to resolve this issue will be greatly appreciated!

Happy New Year to you all

Regarding mobile devices. Have you seen the latest updates to this KB article at s2Member.com? Please review the instructions here.

I’m having the same problem. It will work on desktop browsers and ios, but not Android.

I am having the same issue, with mp4 files.

Everything works on desktop and ios, but not on android.

I have purchased s2member, so I would love the plugin author to get in on ths and have a look at it. This is an issue for all s2member users that use the protected directory to house media files, but most probably don’t even know it exists. I found out by chance today as well.

I am using the built in WP media player.

I just tried using an amazon s3 bucket, and the file played from there. So it’s the files stored in /s2member-files that don’t play.

WebSharks, can you do something about this?

Then tell them about it. Pro support is at s2member.com/contact

Ok, I just created a new ticket, hopefully they’ll do something about it: https://github.com/websharks/s2member/issues/351

    @theguitarlesson,

I have just taken a look at the link referred to earlier in the thread. It looks like they expect you to use Amazon because apparently they can’t guarantee that it will work from local storage because of individual server configurations.

If that is the case, than they could at least tell us how to configure the server, to make it work with Android.

    Good point!

I’d suggest talking to your host. If it’s anything like mine, which is excellent, they will be only too happy to discuss the issue and to suggest a solution themselves.

I just tried serving my videos from Amazon s3 as suggested, but in their documentation, but it didn’t work either. When I tried previously, I just linked to the S3 file directly, but not that I integrated S3 into s2member, it didn’t work on Android.
So the media files are not on my server anymore, they work on desktop, but not on Android.
    S2member support?

Honestly, have you tried talking to your host. I’ve spent most of today troubleshooting a problem (the solution to which turned out to have several parts), and my host has been absolutely fantastic in taking me through all the different possibilities, and patching things where a plugin’s code (not a plugin on ww.wp.xz.cn) was going wrong.
