MU Tools missing
-
I get on all my blogs the mail that BPS is missing. I want to fix this, because I did not want to block the oter BPS mails as well. But on none of my wordpress installation i see this Must Use Link at the plugin page. I have searched one hour to get this fixed. But also a search in the support forum has given no helpful result.
Versions: Free, everything up2dateThe page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Try manually copying the BPS MU Plugin file from here: /wp-content/plugins/bulletproof-security/admin/htaccess/bps-mu-tools.php to here: /wp-content/mu-plugins/.
Possible reasons for why the bps-mu-tools.php file was not automatically copied to the mu-plugins folder:
The folder permissions for the /mu-plugins/ folder is too restrictive or Ownership of the /mu-plugins/ folder is not the same Owner (Script Owner User ID (UID)|File Owner User ID) of the WordPress /plugins/ folder. You can check folder permissions and Ownership of folders by using an FTP application like WinSCP (awesome and free) or FileZilla (very good and free).
Something on your host server or installed on your website (other plugin) prevented the automatic file copy for the bps-mu-tools.php file.
The BPS plugin folder has been renamed to something other than /bulletproof-security/.
I think I accidentally resolved this thread and do not see a way to “unresolve” it.
Nevermind – this thread has been “unresolved”.
Is the issue/problem still occurring or is it resolved?
Sorry, I was on leave. I have checked. The file is exisiting already. The permissions are right and the issue is still existing. I have overwrittten the existing file with the original, but also, no effect.
Is the BPS plugin folder named /bulletproof-security/? I can’t think of any other ideas for why you would be receiving email alerts if both the BPS plugin and the BPS MU Tools file exist???
You could do some basic WordPress troubleshooting to see if the problem is being caused by another plugin. Deactivate all of your other plugins and see if the problem is still occurring.
I don’t think so. Even on a brand new WordPress side (Only 4 other Plugins installed) it is the same issue. An everyday at midnight (Localtime) and if I made updates, I get this mail.
On every of this instances (7) it is the same issue, I did not see the MU Tools to deactivate this mail.
If you like, we can arrange a webmeeting that we can check together.hmm so you are saying the problem occurs at midnight every night and when you update something (plugin?, WordPress?, Themes?). This must be some kind of host server issue. Check with your web host and ask them what happens at midnight every night.
I have checked the server. I have checked the server. At midnight is the Worpress server management runing, I have re scheduled the cron jobs to find out, which is the one who causes that.
What is “WordPress server management”?
Plesk has an integrated WordPress management and update solution. It uses the default API and interfaces to present an overview about all WordPress instances and also provide a Autoupdate for Plugins. This is the same like you manually hit the search or update button.
More about the plesk solution: https://docs.plesk.com/en-US/12.5/administrator-guide/plesk-administration/wordpress-toolkit-in-plesk.73563/
And this autoupdate function causes the mail in the night, i have change all cronjobs at midnight to be sure.
But even if this seams not to be a standard WordPress issue, it is one. I did not see the MUtools in the Backend and if I search (/wp-admin/update-core.php?force-check=1) or do the Updates manually, I also get this mail.
Like I offer before, I have a prepared WordPress, where you can take a look, or we arrange a call to check together.“But even if this seams not to be a standard WordPress issue, it is one.”
Yes and no. Yes, WordPress is involved in the equation, but the Plesk WordPress Toolkit seems to be some sort of advanced management application that takes over the normal management of WordPress.
I read the Plesk WordPress Toolkit link you posted and it seems that there is a very good chance that the BPS plugin issues/problems are being caused by the WordPress Toolkit. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the Plesk WordPress Toolkit so you should contact your host support folks and explain all of the details of this issue/problem that is occurring with BPS to them. Or even simpler would be to send them a link to this forum thread.

Did you contact your host support folks? Any luck figuring out what is causing the problem?
