Multi Language Site – Best practice

Good people of the world.

I am after a bit of advice. I am just finished designing a website but I need to the website to be in 2 different languages.

I did quite a bit of reading and research but can’t quite seem to get my head around what the best option would be for me.

I have all the content translated in both English and French, so what is the best way to present this.

My researched showed one of the better plugins to be Polylang, which I was going to use, but it seems the way this plugin works is you have to create two instances of each page, one in each language. The problem I see here though is that, all the content would be doubled, which isn’t great, say for images. Or does that not matter as both instances of the images would be coming from the same source? (your contents folder).

Any advice one this would be greatly appreciated.
