Multi Site links

I have a multisite with 2 sites in the network, both in Spanish and translated to English. The permalink structure is the same for both sites. My problem is a link from one site to the other functions perfectly in the default language (Spanish) but not in the translated language English. The cause is the way translate press generates the link. So in Spanish the URL is simply – mydomain/multisite. If I change my main site to English the URL is – mydomain/en/ and the link points to – mydomain/en/multisite, this returns a no page found error as the URL it should find is mydomain/multisite/en/. I know I can disable forcing language in custom links but I would prefer not to. Is there another way to get round this problem? Thanks !!
