    Hi,

I have a multisite setup and have the products duplicated on the child site.

When viewing the svi gallery, all images are unassigned but on the master site are all assigned to the correct variation.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi Paul,

    Thanks for your message.

In a multisite setup, each site has its own database, so SVI data (like variation image assignments) is not shared between sites.

Duplicating products alone won’t carry over the SVI galleries — you’ll need to reassign them on the child site. If you want to migrate the products along with all SVI data, make sure to export and import all post meta during the process, as that’s where SVI stores its variation-image mappings.

This is different from how things would work with WPML, where galleries created in the default language are recognized across translations. But since this is a separate site, it requires a complete data transfer.

Let me know if you’d like help with the export/import process.

    Best regards,
    David

    Hi David,

thanks for the very quick response and yes if you could assist in the export import that would be great.

    Hi Paul,

start with exporting (Products > Export) all the products from the main site with all meta. Than import in the child. That will build all the SVI meta.

    Hi David,

I have had a play with the export import but because I am using woomultistore plugin to control the products on each site, the images are stored on the master site and not copied over. It uses a link somewhere when showing the product images on the child site.

Do you think it would be possible to export in PHPadmin.

    Hi Paul,

I would recommend reaching out to them and asking how can the product meta of the main site also be used in a multisite. My guess is that they know best how this can work.
Since it’s reading the information it should pass everything.

Theres nothing here I can do for nw to help since it’s a third party plugin managing the content. Ask them then let me know the finding. If eventually there is something that can be done on my side I will gladly study the approach.

    cheers

I did contact them 1st but they just told me to use a different plugin that they recommend and integrate with. Not really very helpful.

    That sucks.
    But they do advertise :

Meta data export to other stores
All product meta data can be exported to other stores, including content imagery, galleries, and featured thumbnails.

Maybe there is an option to export the meta data and if you do that it may work…

I will get on to them again and state the above. You have been very helpful on this and i will keep you updated.

    Hi David,

    see reply from woomultisite.

I now see that you are referring to some custom variations plugin + custom product variations galleries.

“Neither of those is supported by our plugin by default; we only support standard product variations: awesomescreenshot.com/image/53496426?key=49d111309e4c14724885b120202a0483“Neither of those is supported by our plugin by default; we only support standard product variations: awesomescreenshot.com/image/53496426?key=49d111309e4c14724885b120202a0483

As you can see, that plugin you ar using is not listed on our Addons page, therefore, we do not support it, nor is it  compatible. Maye you could use a Swatches, plugin, instead? This one works with us out of the box: themehigh.com/product/woocommerce-product-variation-swatches

The content added by the SVI variations plugin, along with its galley, has to be integrated, and it is not out of the box. Supposedly it works by adding custom product meta, you could keep that in sync as well, but in order for the images to work, they need to be saved as URLs so that they may be called out.

All in all, I do no think it is simple, or doable, for that matter.

    Thank you for understanding!”

I really dont know how they work, but I believe You only need to put the meta data did you read my message: “

If the metadata is available than it should work.

    Hi David,

just a quick update from woomultisite

“Let me bring this up to our dev, tho I believe there may be an error here…because with 100% certainty, the meta holds a value, which is a string or an array. If it references to an image ID for example, then, the image also has to be transferred over, and I know for sure such functionality doe snot exist.

i will ask our dev to confirm here. I will also bring that text on the website up to management. Thank you for raising awareness.

Please expect for a reply from our dev.”

FYI, my meta data is at product level not at Image level.

    Cheers,
    David
