Thanks! Oh I plan on trying it! 🙂 DO you have a paid version as well?

Most of my images have the red X for LARGE but they have medium and small. What is considered “Large” for the grid and is LARGE really required?

I know now all images need to be “Double” sized when uploaded then resized down….which goes against all things for image optimization, but I do use CDN to serve them up as well. I just need to know if I have to re-upload ALL my images from the past 3 years :/

Haha, why do you want a paid version?

You should know where you are using “large” images on your website (for instance, why kind of images are you inserting in your posts?). If those images are large, then those will be not in retina.

It has nothing to do with image optimisation: on a retina display, a double-sized image will actually NOT BE double-sized, just displayed as it is. On a normal computer though, of course it would have to be resized by the browser… the retina plugin handles all this and only serves the required image, no more, no less 🙂

Make your posts retina FROM NOW, then focus on your most popular post. Nobody will have all theirs posts in Retina from the beginning, it’s too much work.

I was just asking if there was a different version 🙂

When I was asking about large images I was just not sure what sizes showed up as “large”. Most times I have re-sized before uploading them.

Also this plugin will only affect images in the library right? It cannot handle images that the theme uses for say the header logo which is not technically in the image library?

I will have to mess with it I guess going forward, I was just curious the reason why non of my images are showing as having a large version.

I guess what I am finding is I don’t EVER use the Large/Medium image settings. I almost always need a custom image size so I am forced to use the ful size image ad resize it. This does look crisp on both retina and non-retina displays but rarely can I use the two fixed sizes :/

Yes, this plugin affects only images uploaded in the library (for the re-sizing part). But you can also create @2x by yourself and it will load them (this is a different process). You will have to do that for the images in your theme.

If you resize it using HTML like it seems you do, then you don’t really need the plugin, you retinizing them already manually 🙂
