    Hi,

how would I set up the forum for a multilingual site? I can easily create and change .MO and .PO language files. But how can I do this for the phrase set in the translations tab of the WP dashboard? How can I even create a new language in the forum settings?

    Thank you!

You should have all languages PO/MO translation files. wpForo automatically changes User interface phrases langue once WordPress language is changed. You can use Loco Translate to have all your language files translated.

Hi, I know how to translate plugins and themes. I refer to the translations that are set in the wp-foro translations front-end menu. There is only “English” in the drop-down field. However, the site is set to german, and the german language files are all present. I can translate the phrases that I need to have in german. But how would I do this for a multilingual site? I should see “German” in the drop-down field, shouldn’t I?

I’m sorry but you can’t use Front-end Phrase System for multi-language websites. It’s only designed for one language. More info here: https://wpforo.com/docs/root/translation/quick-translation-phrases/

Ok, thank you. But some of the phrases are ONLY in the front-end phrase system available. I couldn’t change theme via the language files. It seems that the text strings are present in the language files but overwritten by the phrase system. Since I only have english, I had to translate the english phrase. Should I delete those translations completely? However, some translation work perfectly using the languages files. I’m not sure that I fully understand the concept.

Please let me know which phrases are missing and we’ll add those in PO/MO files in next version update.
