    Hello,

    I like very much the Customizr theme, I really do.

    I know there’s many options available, but I was wondering if there’s some “preferred” plugin in order to translate or support multi-language pages, I don’t want to get any fancy, just major langs like English, Spanish, French…

    I’m familiar with WPML Multilingual CMS, with which I make do, but I don’t know if this plugin will be also able to handle the sliders, which for me are paramount.

    I will like to hear your opinions/recommendations.

    @tareq: Loco-translate appears to be a .po editor and is not relevant to this question, but thanks for the link.

    @iber4: the officially supported plugin is qTranslate. If that is active, then the field names in the Customiz’it menus are lengthened to give you the necessary space to enter several languages. The standard qTranslate shortcodes will work in the slider/featured texts etc. More related resources here: http://www.themesandco.com/?s=Qtranslate

    The author of Polylang has also taken steps to make his/her plugin compatible with Customizr, but I haven’t tried it since this was done. It’s on my to do list, as I like Polylang’s approach to the issue.

    It this qTranslate plugin has browser or IP auto-detection language as WPML or just the classic flag?

    I think just the flag, but I really don’t know. You should ask in their forum/site. Could you let us know the answer if you find out?

    Hey guys!

    Got some updates!

    Language auto-detection by browser seems to work fine.

    Got some questions now:

    1. How do I edit/translate the customise options, the one that the theme owns, like name, tagline, etc. ??? This is paramount.

    2. How can I show the classic Flag option to manually select the language???

    1. You need to look at the qTranslate documentation. There’s some info here. You enter the text as you would with a single language site, but use shortcodes for each language. For example: [:en]Read more[:it]Scopri di più

    2. Go to Appearance > Widgets and you will find a qTranslate widget that you can drag into a widget area and style.

    You can also look at the link I gave above and modify the solutions for your case.

    3. How do I modify the links as title example:

    miweb.com/this-web-is-eng
    miweb.com/es-espanol

    instead of
    miweb.com/es/this-web-is-eng

    Hmm. I really wouldn’t do that if I were you. /en/ etc is pretty standard.

    If you want to do it, I suggest you ask in the qTranslate forum.

    Ah, I see what you mean. Yes, it looks a bit odd, doesn’t it 🙂

    Maybe qTranslate Slug is what you need. It seems to do what you are trying to.

    It may still work. But putting faith in 2 plugins working in concert is not an excellent strategy, I have to agree.

    Another alternative is Polylang, but as I said above, I haven’t tested it. The polylang author wrote an extra “bridge” plugin to make it work with Customizr (so back to the 2-plugin solution, but at least it’s the same author). See his/her post here.

    Naaaah that sounds too tricky… You are right.

    I mean I really appreciate your help, I really do, but I think I will stand with the /es /en bookmarks if those are the options.
