    Hello!

We have a multilanguage website using WPML. The main language version is english without subfolder and the other languages are in subfolders, /it/, /es/pt-br/fr.

WPML create hreflang for all pages, but our XML sitemap that Yoast created dont include or separate the languages. We need to show/use hreflang in the Yoast sitemap to inform Google of this.

We were refused by Google Adsense because it thinks that we have a lot of copies of our pages in the site. We think that it happened because if the Yoast sitemap that put all pages togheter as they xere all canonical one.

I readed other posts here and Yoast team says that there’s no way to create a multilanguage sitemap with Yoast and there’s no there is no plan to create this functionality in the plugin.

I was thinking to buy the premium version, but I’m having a big problem caused by the yoast sitemap that doesn’t recognize the various languages of the site. Can you help me?

    Hello @iramirim

Thanks for using the Yoast SEO plugin. As you have rightly mentioned, the plugin does not parse different sitemaps for different languages. We add all the languages to the same sitemap. So all posts (regardless of language) will appear on the post sitemap. Doing it this way will not hurt the SEO or how Google crawls your site.

Furthermore, the hreflang tag is generated by your multilingual plugin. We recommend reviewing this guide to ensure you are not missing anything: https://yoast.com/hreflang-ultimate-guide/.

but our XML sitemap that Yoast created dont include or separate the languages.

Can you share some URLs you expect to see in the Yoast SEO sitemap but not included?

Hi Maybellyne, hope you’re doing well!

All URLs that we have in out site are listed in the Yoast sitemap. The problem is that all translations are listed as single posts, there’s no explanation about principal language and translations, nothing tells Google that we don’t have copies, but translations of the main site. So, Google refuse our site in Adsense program because we have a lot os duplicate content.

I know that WPML create hreflang but it seems it’s not enough for Google. I think the sitemap iinformation is mor relevant. As Yoast say is this “hreflang ultimate guide”, we should have a sitemap that shows some kind of hierarchie between languages. That’s why I hope you’ll improve it as soon as possible.

I know I can creat a multilingual sitemap, but I’ll loose the automatic update from yoast site map.

    Nothing is perfect!
