I was told WP forums were better than MT forums which collect cobwebs for weeks before someone replies.
I am not seeing the difference so far.
Am I not asking this correctly?
The search function does not lead to much, so I’m simply looking for pointers.
i think u can use wordpress MU
While, on the surface, this seems rather simple to do I think you are looking at some php programming challenges.
Are the three sites in different folders? or whole different urls? This info might help someone give you a better answer.

Thank you for the responses.
I would prefer not to use WP MU. The pains associated with them seem to be hardly worth it for a straight-forward art gallery website. I am not looking for “multiple users”.
Imagine a top navigation bar as follows:
—-> Introduction / Artists / Gallery / Events / Blog
The look and feel of the website in the Artists section will be different from Gallery, you see. The Events section will have a calendar type look. The Blog can look like a regular blog.
However, the top navigation bar etc will be the same, because that is how a website looks! I could have these sections as “Categories” in my WP, but my question then is: can I have different designs for different Categories? I would like some elements to be different, with a common base design.
I am comfortable with PHP and CSS, and templating systems. I just need to know where to begin.
So far, I have downloaded some themes, but they’re geared towards a very generic blogging type audience. An art gallery’s website cannot look like a blog.
Thanks!

My question in fact is: for each different category, could I have a different CSS file and a different template?
Q: My question: how can I manage different design templates for different “categories”?
A: Category_Templates
