• Right now, only one button can be added to a headline block. We’d like to have the ability to add multiple buttons in the block so we can have links to our catalog and digital resources. (Yes, we can add another block of buttons below the headline block, but that looks sloppy.)

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello @ctsarchivist,

If you want to add multiple buttons, you’ll need to edit the header.php file in your theme, which is a technical process. However, if you update the theme later, the code must be added again.

To keep the changes permanent, you can either use a child theme or a code snippets plugin.

Alternatively, you can use a page builder, which allows you to design a custom header with multiple buttons. Page builders also let you modify the design easily without hardcoding.

It would help improve your chances if you could provide some additional information such as your WordPress version, your theme name and version, and whether that is a paid/custom theme.

When I look at your website, I see that you are using the Underscore theme. This has not been developed further for several months and is no longer supported. Therefore, it might be worth considering changing your theme.

For this very reason, it is difficult to answer your question. I assume you are referring to the “heading” where there is a “Contact the archives” button? And you want a second one next to it? This looks like a typical Underscore customization, which is why I would recommend contacting the person who provided you with the theme.
