    Hi,

Is it normal for images to be loaded multiple times, with different file formats ?

    This screenshot shows this behavior.
    Multiple queries for “same” image

Yes, the images come from the browser cache, but that doesn’t change the fact that there are requests to call up the same image in jpg then avif, or in webp then avif.

I thought that the selection of images to load was done upstream, depending on the browser’s capabilities.
Thank you for your explanation on this issue.

    Best regards

interesting issue , when I bypass optm , it shows a preload with avif , but when pass optm , it shows preload on original jpg/png file , this is probably a bug , I will check further.

could you please upgrade to v7.7 and see how it acts there ?

    Hi Qtwrk,

I did the update a few days ago, and nothing has changed.

However, after numerous tests, I see that things are very different depending on the browser.
For example, if I preload the logo in PNG with <link rel=‘preload’ …. , then in the page source:

4 x <link rel=‘preload’ …. with Firefox for 1 real query (hopefully) in WEBP AND in AVIF

1x <link rel=‘preload’ …. with Brave or Chromium for 1 query in WEBP AND in AVIF

For an image identified as LCP, jpg AND avif queries, regardless of the browser.

I don’t think this is related to VPI since the latter only affects lazyload or not.
And I’m not even sure it’s related to LSCWP…

This is another topic, but some AVIF images are not very optimized.
For example, for this “LCP” image, I had a 49 KB jpg and a 66 KB avif, both of which were loaded.
Using an online service, I was able to create a 36 KB avif without any significant drop in quality.

So for now, I’m going to close this post as “resolved,” even if it’s not, because it deserves more investigation than I have time to conduct on my own…

    Anyway, Thanks for your help.
    Best regards

@joy0114 if the issue is different in each browser, then the problem might be related to Javascript.
If the problem comes from a code(any plugin) it would affect all browsers

If extra help is needed, we can help you any time 🙂

    Hi Litetim,

Thank you very much for this suggestion to resolve these strange behaviors.

I will try to see if it comes from the JavaScript in my theme (Astra+Astra pro) since I don’t have a plugin specifically dedicated to images.

I now truly believe that LSCWP is not the issue at all.

In any case, thank you for your kind offer of help ! We recognize the Litespeed spirit !

    Best regards
