Multiple problems 3.9 – media, text vs visual in editor

    I have been using WordPress for 3 years and with the most recent versions it seems that something always breaks.

    Recently: Cannot have two columns of photos – just to one column only now – occurred maybe two updates ago.

    Mostly recently with 3.9. The TEXT tab does nothing. It remains always on VISUAL.

    Text size changes mid post (on previous WP version). Was able to fix by copying and past a line for format control stuff if I went to the TEXT window.

    Cannot insert photos! – none! Found that on a previous post a line of control/formatting code appears so I could copy/modify/paste to the new post for the photos. Imagine how much fun that is. Perhaps I need to deactivate all plugins related to photos and see if that fixes it.

    I’m not a programmer, just a user but this continues to degrade from the happy posting times in the past.

    OK, seems to be the fault of a plugin. I was using File Gallery that seems not to have been updated for a LOOOONG time. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable that I could suggest an alternative. I like the ability to have multiple columns, see the photos below the post, etc. I then have Shadowbox JS which seems to do a good job of being able to click through a gallery of photos if they are smaller sizes.
