    1. Not able to save/modify posts.
    2. Pages won’t display, but posts will.
    3. Database was hacked. multiple instances of spam links inserted, but I can get rid of them through the WP admin, or through cpanel.
I haven’t tried modifying the SQL database manually yet (something I do with other sites quite frequently), but I’m willing to bet I can’t upload the database again as well.

    Any thoughts?

    Hm.

On further investigation, I can’t modify ANYTHING through the WP Admin. Every UPDATE button just takes me to my 404 page.

Yup. I can’t upload a clean copy of the database.

    Rats.

what exactly are you asking? “any thoughts” on what?

you say the site was hacked? how did you discover this? tell us everything you’ve done since then… or at least mention the highlights.

In the SQL databse are several entries where there were lists of spam links from different sources. I cleaned these out manually.

I can’t upload the clean copy of the database.

All of the spam started with:

    <!– manager-start –>

if that’s of help to anyone.

Deleted the spam from some posts using phpAdmin and at the same time noticed that the ‘post_type’ for all my PAGES had been changed to post. Changed them back to page and everything is working fine now.

Changed all my passwords as well while I was at it.
