1) I’ve removed this coloured bar on the version 1.5 because the newer slider has a timer coloured bar which I thought would be irrelevant have both of them.
2) As long as you didn’t change anything on the theme options, the last entries section will be shown on your home page by itself when you add new posts. About the slider, you need to add ‘itens’ on it going to Appearance > Theme Options (front page tab). By default it doesn’t show anything because there is not ‘itens’ to be displayed.

you are the second person who came here with this same problem. Not sure who you manage to do it.
Did you change anything on the Settings > Reading?
What is happening here is, you have front-page and blog page mixed, I am considerating it as a bug, but I need to understand why it is happening, can you give me more information about what you have changed so far?
Here is what is says on the reading page:
Front Page Displays: Your Latest Posts
Blog pages show at most: 10 posts
Syndication feeds show the most recent: 10 items
For each article in a feed, show: Summary
Search Engine Visibility – Discourage search engines from indexing this site: Unchecked
I have put something onto my slider and it is still not showing up

do me a favor, go to Settings > Reading and check “use a static page” and show “home” as your front page and leave blog “empty” and see if it will work.
Also, how do you customize your site text up the top left to multiple colours??
so I need to create a new page called “home”?
Um…only problem is that when I create a new page, it calls it http://www.techsquidau.net63.net/home…
Now it seems to be working.
