    Dear CleanTalk Support,

I am writing to report a recurring issue with the CleanTalk Security Firewall plugin on my website.

Users, including myself, are being blacklisted and blocked from accessing certain pages or, at times, the entire site. The page they see displays the message: “Security FireWall is activated for your IP [5.138.25.196] Blacklisted”.

While I am located in Belgium with IP address 178.119.242.201, multiple visitors from different locations are being blocked with the exact same IP address: 5.138.25.196. This is particularly strange.

To temporarily resolve this, I have to either clear my website’s cache or, in some cases, completely delete and reinstall the CleanTalk plugin. This is a very frustrating process, especially since I’m not always aware of the issue until it’s reported by a user.

Could you please help me understand the cause of this problem? Is this a configuration issue on my end, or is there a bug with the plugin itself? Any guidance on how to permanently fix this would be greatly appreciated.

    My Site https://ipon.be/

Thank you for your time and assistance.

    Hello @pol28,

This is because you are using a caching plugin, it has cached our blocking page and is now showing it to all visitors. To fix this, please do the following:
    • WordPress Admin Page → Settings → Security by CleanTalk → General Settings → category “Miscellaneous” → set the option “Set cookies” to “Off” → Save Changes.
    • Add the Security plugin folder to your cache exclusion: WORDPRESS_ROOT_FOLDER/wp-content/plugins/security-malware-firewall
    • Set the cache refresh time to 24 hours or less.
    • Clear all cache on your site.

    Did it help you?

Thanks for the quick response. I’ve made the following changes. My site uses WP Fastest Cache.

    Exclusion page wizard:
    Starts with: WORDPRESS_ROOT_FOLDER/wp-content/plugins/security-malware-firewall
    Cache timeout
    once per day

I hope I did everything correctly with these settings. If there are still any problems, I will let you know.

    Thanks

I have specified this path in my example to make it easier for you to find our folder and add it to the exclusions. You didn’t need to add WORDPRESS_ROOT_FOLDER. According to the documentation of WP Fastest Cache, you need to specify the following path:
    /wp-content/plugins/security-malware-firewall/

    Please make these changes.

Thanks for the comment, I’ve now changed it correctly. Thanks for that. The exclusion is now set to: Start With: /wp-content/plugins/security-malware-firewall/
