@bhandtc – Are you seeing any error messages? Are the site that are not able to upload “old” or “new” … or both?
Have you tried checking for conflicts with other plugins?
– Cais.
I do not see any error messages myself. The admin for that site says she sees the message “http error” when she tries to upload. However all I see is a small yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it. I get a popup message that says “Upload complete. 0 images were uploaded” I can create a gallery for it using the manage gallery tab.
Using FileZilla I can detect that a gallery folder was created in the appropriate spot but it is empty.
This particular site was created on on 6/24/2013. NextGen Gallery would have been network-enabled for it at the time of creation. However the admin for that site never tried to use the Gallery plugin until 2 days ago. She does use the regular Media built-in to store individual photos.
There are 43 sites in this installation. The first one was created in 2010 and used NextGen Gallery from the start. I have started testing all the sites to see if Gallery works. So far I have found only one other site that does not work. Interestingly it was also created on the exact same day – 6/24/2013. The admin for that site has also never tried to create a Next Gen Gallery. This is not unusual as many of the admins on these sites do not use all the capabilities of the sites.
I have not tried disabling the plugins, as they are network-enabled and if I disable them I will get telephone calls from admins of the sites.
@bhandtc – That error message would be sensible since photocrati_ajax is not supposed to be called from the root.
Have you looked at the Permalinks Structures for those sites? Perhaps try something like “Post name” or “Month name” if you are using the “Default” … otherwise, try the “Default”

Resolved!
Changing the permalinks structure did the trick.
Thanks, much
@bhandtc – Thank you very much for your patience and letting us know that it worked!
