• Hi, on some old sites I used to use the native multisite feature to build multilanguage websites and allow clients to indipendentely manage each language. Then, some years ago, I switched to the fabulous Polylang.

    Now for some of the ‘multisite’ websites I would need to switch to polylang. The problem is: how to retain all (hundreds) of the posts of all the languages (sites of the fake ‘network’) and have them assigned to the right language in polylang?

    What woul be the best strategy in your opinion?

    Thank you

    Hi!

    I am not aware of anyone having done this in a fully automated way.

    What you could try, using the WP builtin export tool ( please test before doing this on a production site ):

    For each language:
    * export the site from your multisite install
    * in new Polylang site, change the default language to the language you want to import
    * import your content
    * In settings->languages, assign the default language to the content having no language (link in notice above the languages list table).

    This may allow you to keep the language information. Unfortunately, I have no way to offer to keep the translations links (for this, you would need to write a fully automated migration plugin).

    Ok thank you, your suggestions already help a little.
