It is the first time that I heard about multisite network and such a URL as http://xxx/http://yyy.jpg. May I get a real world example to investigate the issue?

I didn’t explain very well – but if I upload the external media on the main network – then the external media url works perfectly:
https://www.external-url.com/img.jpg
When I try to access this media in one of the network sub blogs, the external media url becomes:
https://sub-blog.com/site2/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/https://www.external-url.com/img.jpg
