This doens’t makes sense.
*What* in PHP was increased? The memory? The version?

You have 209,206 images on this site??
> I can’t add a single picture to a gallery
If you are under your allowable inodes, and you are under your allowable diskspace, are you being throttled by the database size perhaps ?
Unless you have a specific error msg coming from your site, this is really a WordPress issue, this is a hosting issue.

I have 2 different sites. theearlybirder.com is outdated. That says 209,206 images, but they are not on the site. That is just the number of images I had myself, available, slides or digital. That is a non-WP site and my home copy from which it is derived is about 22Gigabytes.
I was told that was old code, didn’t work well with mobile, or search engines, so I should have a wordpress site. I started that last November, and have built about 230 pages, most galleries, at https://theearlybirder.org . My plan was to keep links to the old site, while building and replace with new galleries and links, one by one, until the site would be completely replaced and deleted. So it was a huge shock and surprise to be well under limits advertised as well as depicted in C-panel, and be told I have 2 million inodes when 58K show and then backtrack and say it is too much php, and end my ability to add another image. I thought maybe someone here would know what they are talking about. I don’t have any store online even, no comments section, no email.

True – and doesn’t matter.
> didn’t work well with mobile,
True – but fixable.
> or search engines,
Ugh. Definitely not true.

Open for debate.
You should have a site that suits your needs, and you’re comfortable with.
> I don’t have any store online even, no comments section, no email.
This doesn’t really make any difference based on what you have described.
Clearly all your disk space usage is coming from your images.
I would contact them again, and ask them :
– how much disk space do I have in my hosting account, and
– how much disk space is my current website using?
You can change hosts as well.
The Siteground control panel is atrocious, but the value of their support and service is very good.

Well I really love the new site I am building, the organization mostly.
I was on the phone between replies with Hostgator tech. I asked about the amount available and he said the plan shows unlimited. I asked how much am I using and I heard part of a sentence cut off. I didn’t hear a dial tone so I didn’t hang up. After about 20′ music replaced silence and then he came back on. Asked again, hold on. Answer is about 6G. Said an administrator will get back to me with more info or suggestions. No clear answer what I can see that I’m exceeding.

My case was escalated and a Hostgator administer emailed me that since files were deleted, there is no problem in adding more files again, but I am skeptical and will have to find out how easily that could happen again. Many on elementor forum said to get off there, also always being threatened with suspension or loss of site.

You mean get off of Hostgator?
I’ve not used them for 20 years – but any massive company like Hostgator with tens of millions of users will have good and bad.
Just send them a helpdesk – you cannot get a more direct question than :
– which hosting plan does theearlybirder.org?
– how much space am I using on my account?
Anything other than Hatchling, says “Unlimited sites” – so maybe they just suck as a company.
