If the update isn’t going through, it usually means there’s something blocking the process. Have you checked the permissions on your hosting? Low resources on hosting are another issue which might cause this issue.

What exactly do you see when you try to install the update? Do you get an error message, and if so, what does it say?
Please note that some hosting providers also control the updates for WordPress for you. In this case, you cannot install the update yourself via the backend, but must use an interface provided by the hosting provider. You can also contact your hosting provider’s support team for clarification.
