Exporting the database through phpMyAdmin for backup purpose or moving to another host/domain offers some options.

Other software I’m using (a phpBB forum sharing the database with WP) sugests that I uncheck Extended Inserts in the Data section.

How is that affecting the transfer of WordPress tables ? For a correct backup should that be checked or unchecked ?

A quick of the phpMyAdmin docs says:

“extended inserts” provides a shorter dump file by using only once the INSERT verb and the table name.

I don’t think any harm will come from unchecking. FWIW, I’ve backed up a gazillion times and I always leave that checked. I wonder why phpBB says not to.

According to our detailed instructions for backing up via phpMyAdmin, “Extended inserts” should be unchecked anyway.

It shouldn’t matter either way. Go with whatever makes you happy.
