MySQL Errors after upgrade

Hi, I am trying to upgrade from Members List 3.6.3 on WordPress 3.5.1 to version 4.1 on WordPress 4.2.7. When doing so I get this error message If I click on any of the sorting functions:

Warning: mysql_real_escape_string(): A link to the server could not be established in /homepages/13/xxxxxxxxx/htdocs/upresstest/wp-content/plugins/members-list/class/members.php on line 643

There seem to be fewer options in this version for formatting, or maybe I’m missing something. Any help would be appreciated.
