named static pages

Hello:

There are several options for the URLs of static pages.

The default: … .com/blog/?p=123
Date and time: … .com/blog/2008/01/15/sample-post/

I am concerned with the latter. When chosen, the link to, say, About, points to … blog/about/ and does not work. However, the default variant works as advertised.

My question is, what is to be done to make the “Date and time” setting work?
