• I’ve inherited an older website and I’m learning how to use the navigation block with menus that I’ve created. Consequently, I’ve modified a menu multiple times to get it just right. However, the only way I can consistently see the correct menu in my pages is to choose it by name from “Classic Menus” at the bottom of the “Select Menu” dropdown list. There is a long list of items in the regular “Menu” choices above the classic menus that all have the exact same name. If I select one of them, a previous iteration of the menu is displayed that is no longer defined under Appearance | Menus. The list grows longer every time I modify the menu. Also, everything I update a menu, I have to update each of the pages where it’s used by selecting the latest iteration from the “Classic Menus” options. (There are no duplicate names there.) Shouldn’t the modified menu be updated automatically in every navigation block where it is selected?

I can’t find mention of anyone having this issue, so I wonder if the problem is local to my site. I’m using WordPress 6.0.2 with the Gridiculous theme and very few plugins, all of which are up-to-date. PHP is at version 5.6.40. which I’m hesitant to upgrade without know any of the site’s history. (Perhaps the old version is the problem?)

Has anyone else seen this problem or know of a solution? I’d appreciate any help.

I’m using WordPress 6.0.2 with the Gridiculous theme

First off, please note Gridiculous theme hasn’t been updated in over 2 years. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress.

You may try asking at https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/theme/gridiculous/#new-post and hope someone either its developers or someone from the support community will reply.

Or chose a new block theme that works with blocks and as well as the more recent versions of WordPress.

Thank you t-p! I’ve posted a similar topic on the Gridiculous support forum. I don’t have high hopes of a useful response as the last topic there is 5 years old.

Later this week, I’ll try switching to PHP 7.4 and the OceanWP theme (also supports sidebars) to see if I can get a similar look.

    I appreciate your help.
