• Does anyone know how to get subscribe2 to work with future dated posts (e-mail subscriber list when the post is published on the appointed date and time).

I’ve been trying to get Skippy’s subscribe2 to work with future dated posts (it was supposed to work with future dated posts as of a prievious version. I am on the current version (2.2.2) and WP 2.02, so everything is up to date. I am also running wp-cron 1.4 (latest) as stated by skippy as required for future dated psots to be sent by e-mail. Posts published at the current time staamp are immediately sent out, so I know subscribe2 is working.

WP-cron’s sip file comes with several other plug-ins. I have no idea if any of these are necesary to make the subscribe2 work.

Skippy included a wp-cron-reminder to test if wp-cron is working. It is.

    any ideas? Thanks!!!

Edit*** Or does anyone know of another plugin to e-mail subscribers future dated posts if you don’t know how to make this one work? (like PW email notification)

I’m going to leave this unresolved for now, but here’s what I think the problem is. If anyone else has experienced this, let me know. In the meantime, I’ll have this fully tested by April 16, 2006. Since it’s on a live blog, I can’t really run test posts.

The very strange thing about this problem was that the plug-ins (subscribe2 with wp-cron) worked perfectly on my test site. When ported to the production site, it stopped working.

    Solution:
It appears that future dated posts that were written prior to the installation of wp-cron will not be recognized by the susbscribe2 and wp-chron plug-ins for e-mail distribution. I can’t figure out why this would be, but when I create a new post or a new future dated post, each one e-mails shortly after the publish date/time. The exceptions are posts I wrote prior to the installation of subscribe2 and wp-cron.

In order to get everything notifying subscribers by e-mail, I think if I edit each post (add a few words and re-save), those posts will then e-mail to the distribution list. I’ll let you all know next week.

Well, most of my previous suspicions were correct. WP-cron and subscribe2 are only e-mailing posts that were published after the plug-ins were installed.

Originally, I wanted to re-save all my future dated posts. This has not worked. If I want my posts for the next few weeks e-mailed, I’ll need to copy them into a new post and delete the old one. Oh well.

If anyone else ever has this problem, hope this helps.
