• I have created a template for my pages in Swedish, so far I am happy with that. Now I want to create a twin site in English and for this I need to create a template for these pages with an English header. I have tried numerous times but in whatever way I try; if I make an English header it affects the Swedish header.

    Please help me!

  • If you edit the default page template, this will affect all pages that uses that template.
To create a few pages in English, then you could create an EXTRA page template on your site.

Utseende → Redigerare → (Design) → Mallar → Lägg till mall → Anpassad mall
    Sna
You could name it, say, “Sida på engelska”.
Next, you can choose a start layout and edit it, or build your layout from scratch.
    I’d choose the former approach.

Now you can edit your English header (and footer).
If you want to, you can drill down into building a separate navigation block for your English visitors.

Finally, for each English page, you need to change its page type to “Sida på engelska”. This is easily done directly in your list of pages: click on “Snabbredigera”, choose the correct “Mall” and hit “Uppdatera”.

However, if you want all or most of your content to be available in both languages, and also more correctly handle links between languages and marking of content language, then I’d recommend that you use some plugin for multilingual WordPress: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/tags/multilingual/

This is what I have tried to do several times, I think. I am in theme 2024.

I do: Apperance – Editor (Design) – Templates – Add template – Custom template – Named it “Engelsk sida”. Now comes a suggestion for a pattern, this suggestion looks exactly as the pattern I use for my regular Swedish pages. If I use this pattern and start to edit the menu in the header, all pages (including the Swedish ones) are changed. Is this where I go wrong?

Can I make a separate header with the same design as the Swedish?
