New YoastSEO user (not premium, so far anyway), setting things up and doing the introductory course. Issue began when I wanted to see the complete list of snippet variables, mentioned as being viewable by clicking on the Need Help? button on the Search Appearance settings page.

Problem: I have NO Need Help? buttons on any of my settings pages. Completely absent.

I made sure my WP core and YoastSEO plugin were the current versions, and I installed and ran the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin which came back clean, no conflicts or problems.

I’m working inside current version Firefox (71.0, 64-bit) in Win10. I tried disabling popup blocking, made no difference. Everything else I’ve used in the YoastSEO plugin so far appears to be where it should be and working properly.

I still want that snippet variable list, but the larger problem of the missing buttons has to be solved in order to get to it.

Didn’t see this addressed here. Hope someone has a way to get those Need Help? buttons into my settings pages, because I’m sure I’ll want to use them later also.

Need Help? Yes I do. 😉

    Thanks.

Sorry about that. We recently removed the ‘Need Help’ button and it’s now a small ? at the bottom of the page.

A list of template variables and how to use them is here: Yoast SEO: Search Appearance template variables

Aha – I’m happy that nothing is messed up with my plug-in.

The circular ? button seems to feed the same information as what’s on the web page. But it’s good to know that it’s the replacement for the Help button now.

I had already seen the web page with the list, but it says “Below you will find only a sampling of the available variables. Please check the Help Center in your Search Appearance section for the complete list available to your site” — which is what made me try to find the Help button in the first place.

Is the list on that page complete then, and not a ‘sampling’? Can you answer that for me? If it’s a complete list then I’m good to go. Putting *all* of the variables on a web page makes the most sense to me anyway.

Thanks for your reply, happy holidays etc.

The list in the KB article lists the ones we include but other themes and plugins can add their own variables so while it’s a sampling of what is available, there isn’t a way to see the full list in the current version.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I’ve opened a feature request with our development team to investigate and see if we can bring back the list in the back end.

You’re welcome, and thanks for clearing things up for me. I hope I see the list (or at least your list) back in the plug-in at some point.
