On the event list and block, is there anyway I can make new events show at the top instead of below?

You can use the order attribute in your calendar to make newer events come first.

Are you using a calendar, or just the shortcode? If it’s just the shortcode, you can use the order attribute as well:
https://support.themeboy.com/article/105-event-list-shortcode

Something like:
[event_list .... order="DESC"]
