• I have bluehost as the host for my webpage http://www.gossipaddict.net and I used their quick set up to install wordpress. The problem I am having is now I can’t upload any themes. I tried installing wordpress the long way and I had a page all made and set up just the way I wanted it with a user created theme, of course when I went to add a post to my blog it was back to the default wordpress page which is not pleasing to the eye. I am just wondering how I can correct this problem.

  • Just upload (ftp) the theme to your themes directory and then select it. Or, login to your Cpanel, and use the File Manager feature to upload the zipped theme into your themes directory, then unzip it. Then login to your wp admin and select your theme.

i tried that – but because my host had simple scripts its not allowing me to add that theme. im not sure if im being clear or not, my brains sort of mush right now lol

I’ve never used simple scripts so I’m not sure how it works.

Simple Scripts just installs the blog for you. You still can upload your themes as you please. FTP is the same as it always was. Make sure you are putting your theme in like this: wp-content/themes/YOURTHEME. NOT like this: wp-content/themes/YOURTHEME/YOURTHEME. One of the biggest problems with themes not working properly is nested directories.

ok so i deleted simple scripts……i went through the cPanel instructions on how to set up wordpress. I get tripped up right here (and i dont know why because its so straight forward) http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/cpanel/
    Run installation
Upload all the WordPress files, including the file above, to the directory where you want it to be.
It doesn’t have to be called anything in particular – your choice.
Let’s say I uploaded the files to a directory called ‘blog’ – I would then use my browser to go to
    http://www.example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php
and then you’ll see this screen:

Thats what it says – I dont get the upload part…..my stuff is already downloaded and extracted to the folders the instructions said to put them in – now what am i missing? lol
