– I don’t know why your draft posts are showing as 404s. Can you provide an example?
– Can you give an example of a URL that is logging as a 404 but you have redirected? Can you also provide the redirect you created for it
– You don’t need to redirect a page multiple times
– Crawl errors are errors that Google finds by crawling your site for bad links etc. The 404 log is every request that results in a 404 page, and this will include external requests that are not caused by a bad link
– Yes, external links can cause 404 errors, as can bots
It’s ok to have 404 errors so long as they’re not pages that people are trying to access.

thanks for your answer
-for example, i had an old post title /Neak-Pean-Go-Pro
now, as it is a draft, the url is /?p=25241&preview=true
but in redirection 404 tab, it comes with the first url, marked as a 404.
-i had old url titled: /road-trip-johannesbourg/ and redirected it to the new page /johannesburg/. As redirect plugin seems to be a “real time” plugin, many request for the same page comes in the 404 tabs. For example i redirect it once yesterday, and this morning again another request for the same page appear, so i have again a 404 for the same page;
thank you
If some of your draft posts are appearing in the 404 log there then is something trying to access them. You can use the information in the 404 log (IP address, user agent, referrer) to locate where the requests are coming from. This may help identify the source.
Your /road-trip-johannesbourg/ URL seems to be redirecting fine. Do the entries in the 404 log match the URL exactly?

thank you
yes the entries in the 404 log match the url..the requets are coming from http://www.bing.com/bingbot.htm or http://www.google.com/bot.html
in this case can i simply delete the 404 in the list??
thank a lot for taking your time to answer!very kind 🙂
It’s hard to say what is happening without seeing your setup. If you access the URL and are redirected, then everything should be working there.
If you are still getting 404 errors then I would look to see if you have other redirects that may be in action. Can you access the URL and get redirected?
If you still get errors then can you post a screenshot of your redirect and the 404 log entries?
I’m going to close this for now, but feel free to reopen
