Try editing your theme’s index.php file and changing:
<?php the_content();?>
to
<?php the_excerpt();?>
<p><a class="more-link" href="<?php the_permalink;?>">Read more…</a></p>
Then in each post, use the Optional Excerpt box on the Edit Post page to write a custom summary for each post. This summary will not be repeated on the single post page.
