Need help with structuring site

    I am not sure if this is the right place to post my question. Years ago I built a successful site for my local community. At that time WordPress was not available everything was done through p h p on the backside
    I currently use text to speech because I’m visually disabled.

    I have purchased plugins like profile grid and even hired live support from WP Live. They have been AWESOME. Problem with that is there very good at helping you connect things but not really on developing ways to get things done.

    WordPress has a lot of plugins and this is very overwhelming.

    When I first started this project 6 months ago I thought this would be a fairly simple thing to do.

    1. I want to build a site where members can enter their local zip code in their profile when registering.

    2. I want to have the ability for members to create their own Forum topic, group, or maybe even a Blog. I don’t care which of these are used I just want to have a way for people to have discussions with other people from their own ZIP or postal code area.

    The the end result would be when people enter or arrive at my site they will have a search box where they can enter their local zip code and find other individuals and discussions within that zip code.

    I need help on how to structure this. It would be very very appreciated if someone give me some advice. Any guidance would be appreciated Thank you.

    I strongly suggest to take a look at BuddyPress. It has some of the features requested above.

    Thank you for the response. I have that installed now. I am just having a problem trying to create the plan for the overall site. I have already spent a lot of time and money trying to put this together. What I realize now is that I need to create a solid plan.
    I have a quote I have used all my life and I did not do this when I started this project. The quote is plan your work and work your plan. I could spend another six months trying to figure all this out. I do not want to spend another six months spinning my wheels.

    Thanks a2hostingr for your feedback. I think I found the answers I need from other services in this form. I will post again if I need to thanks again.
