• Hi,
Real newbie to blogging and to WP (so pls go easy on me with the responses!). I’m happy to say that I had zero issues installing WP and getting going. I’ve made a few posts, administratively set things up the way I want them, but I can’t seem to be able to create that look that I want. Maybe it’s just a template thing(?) I’m just using the default WP template. I’m looking to be able to control the colors in the header (currently able to do this), but I also want to add a logo jpg to the header (can’t do) and I want the ‘Bio Info’ of the author to show up (which currently doesn’t). Am I doing something wrong?
If this is a template issue, which I have a feeling that it might be, can anyone recommend any templates (I see so many and I have no idea how to go thru so much of a pile)? Purpose of the blog: editor’s expertise and commenting on products sold by my company’s ecommerce website. Categories are important as is the expertise and biographical info.
I may (later) want to get into the more advanced and cool stuff that I’m reading about in this forum, but for now, it’s pretty simple.

Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Each WordPress theme will have a different set of capabilities, some are very simple, and others allow you more options, like choosing a custom header image.

You could of course add your own header image to any theme if you are willing to get your hands dirty! Some themes do allow you to upload a custom header image right through your Dashboard, K2 is one theme that does this. Or you could find a theme that already has an image in the header, like Andreas, and just replace that image to add your logo.

I would recommend spending some time looking at the options in the Theme Directory, and choose the theme that is closest to the look you want, then there should be less changes you have to make to get it looking like that.

As far as showing more author information, you could use a plugin like Profile Pic to do this.
