It’s still there.
In the Post’s section, hover your mouse over the post, and hit “View” or right-click “View” and copy the link.

James,
I’m not quite getting this. That requires going to the Posts section, another trip that wasn’t necessary before.
Under Activity it shows only the Edit link now. No good for sharing. So then I have to go to the edit page, or all Posts, as you did. Since most of what I want to share is recent posts, doesn’t it make sense that we would want direct links to them for the recent ones,on our Dashboard? It was like this for years before.
I bet there’s a plugin for this, but did not find it yet.
Hm, I don’t recall there ever being a link to the post itself under Activity, but maybe I never noticed. Sorry!
Does anyone know of a fix or plugin for this, or what it might be called? With the list of recent posts (in Activity?) to have usable links there, not just edit links, are invaluable for sharing on social media.
Under Activity it shows only the Edit link now.
Prior to WordPress version 4.2.4, there was just a post edit link there, and it only displayed for users with edit permissions; those without edit permissions just saw an unlinked post title.
In 4.2.4, they made a change to where (instead of being unlinked) the post title would point to the permalink for any user without edit permissions. Those with edit permissions still saw the post edit link.
The behavior has been the same ever since (although the underlying code has been greatly simplified).
As far as changing it, the only way I can see to do that is to hack the core code directly (not recommended) or create a custom Dashboard widget which shows you exactly what you want to see.
Thanks for clarifying, girlieworks!
Thanks, girlieworks. Now I will wait for SOMEONE ELSE to develop this highly handy widget or change. 🙂
