    Hello,

    Been awhile.

GoDaddy has created an incident with my site.

My Gallery directory has thousands of sub directories, with over 68k pictures.

So I need to moved them from Gallery elsewhere.

My idea was to install multiple nggalleries.

The first test generated a fata error. Sorry I don’t have it verbatim right now.

I made a separate directory in the plugin directory and when I went to activate I received the error.

Thinking this would work I make separate gallery directories in the wp-content directory. Hoping I could move directories with to use with the new installations.

I really need help fast before I get suspended and lose my site.

So if you have some instructions on how I could do multiple installs of nggallery, or a way to use the images from a new location I would appreciate any help.

I understand I’ll have to make thousands of new shortcodes etc.

    Thank you.

I’m currently moving all pix to alternate directors.

Anyone know if a way to change the path pointing to the galleries ?

    I really need help.

    Hello @doublesixx,

It seems like a unique case.
If you want to adjust the path pointing at the galleries on NextGEN Gallery > Other Options > Where would you like galleries stored?

    @gabyimagely,

Thank you for the reply. I appreciate your help.

    Haven’t tried your idea yet.

But I’m guessing it only changes one directory for another, but I need a little more.

I’ve divided the main gallery into multiple galleries containing more sub directors.

Would your idea let me have multiple gallery paths ?

I think the reason I got in trouble was having one directory with multiple sub directors, with thousands of files causing an issue with long file names.

I appreciate all help, thank you.

    Hi @doublesixx,

So sorry, it seems like a complex configuration and a unique case.

At the time being, we don’t have that option.

What we have noticed in some installations is that clients create the galleries, upload the photos, and then re-adjust the path settings, creating another folder.
Old galleries remain in the older folder, and they work.
New galleries are uploaded to the new path.

The site will probably require some special setup.
Please, consider voting for our CDN feature, that should fix problems with very large galleries https://www.imagely.com/feature-voting/

    Makes sense.

Unfortunately, it’s kinda late for me considering I had over 68k worth of pix within the/gallery/subdirectories.

Something the dev team should consider.

I would image this situation will come up again everyday.

    I appreciate all your help.

    Happy to help!

    Wait.

How do I turn off the dynamic directors ?

Can I turn off the cache doctors directors ?

    Hi @doublesixx,

Could you please elaborate a bit more on your question?
There are some dynamic URLs used in our album displays, perhaps you can clarify.

On the other hand, I did some testing, and just as I mentioned before.
You can upload a gallery to a path, adjust NextGEN Gallery Path, and create new galleries into another path. The old galleries should work, and it shouldn’t be a problem.

Now, there is one additional option that might be helpful in your case.
Maybe you can create a new gallery, move your photos using FTP and then use the Scan images option inside that new gallery.

Here is more information about it: https://www.imagely.com/docs/import-images-nextgen-gallery/

You will need to move the original photos only, not any cache or thumbnails created by the plugin.

Note: this is a particular case. We recommend performing a full website backup before trying any alternative workarounds.

    Thank you for your time.

Ok, what I mean is, I don’t remember when, but awhile back the new version. I guess when it was photocrati, dynamic directories were created in the same directory of a gallery.

Behaving as a cache, taking up space.

I’m currently deleted those, over 3,200 containing thousands of pictures, taking up a ton of space in the server.

I was hoping there was a way to turn the feature off.

Preventing the recreating if the same files.

    Hi @doublesixx,

The dynamic thumbnails folders are being created only if using Pro gallery display types so respectively using the free version of NextGen Gallery – shouldn’t create those.

You can remove the dynamic thumbnails at once from “NextGen Gallery -> Other Options -> Miscellaneous -> Clear image cache”

    Thank you.

Uh, I’ve always had the free version of nggallery, each directory has a dynamic directory full of the pictures in the main directory.

    So I dunno.

I would seriously like to stop the creation of the dynamic directors.

Clearing the cache doesn’t delete the cache, or dynamic directors.

Still full of pictures, I made sure I return some directors back to the /gallery directory.

    Hi @doublesixx,

    The plugin uses those directories.
You shouldn’t remove them, and they are necessary.

    Thread Starter DoubleSixx

    (@doublesixx)

But they’re taking up a ton of room, increasing the storage used.

    Hello @doublesixx,

We’ll be happy to share those concerns with the developers.
But even WordPress has a similar system, creating a folder structure and different versions of the same photograph.
