Nested Paths or Deep Subdirectories

Hello everyone,

I’m a web developer/designer for a University in Philadelphia. Currently like many other developers for universities these days, I’m exploring WordPress as a CMS. I currently have a copy of 3.0.1 installed on a testing server and I love it. My one question is is there a way to created nested paths or subdirectories deeper than one level? Is there a plug in that does this or can WordPress itself do this and I’m missing something?

The reason I need this functionality is we have several undergraduate and graduate schools with many individual departments inside of those all of which need control to edit their website. Normally I would say it’d be easier to move all departments to the root but we have a few conflicts. For example we have two Biology departments, a graduate one and an undergraduate one.

So long story short, is there a way I can control indivdual sites with paths like this with one WordPress 3.0.1 install:

http://www.schoolname.edu/undergraduate/schoolofarts/biology
http://www.schoolname.edu/admission
http://www.schoolname.edu/undergraduate/schoolofnursing/nursing
http://www.schoolname.edu/undergraduate/schoolofbusiness
http://www.schoolname.edu/graduate/computerscience
