I have been trying to create a new custom post type called “Events,” but when I do, it seems to not be saving. The CPT does not display on the left side of the dashboard, and I cannot find a record of it anywhere. I’ve tried deleting the plugin and reinstalling. I’ve tried other plugins but I really want to use this one! Can you kindly help me…I don’t know PHP. Thank you!!!

    Hi @pujapaige

did you set any of the “show UI” based settings to false?

Did you remove the “post” capability type? If yes, set that back, and you’re likely already good to go.

Otherwise, I’m curious what your overall settings are which can be shared by visiting the “Tools” area and copy/pasting the right hand side.

Hi Micheal! Thank you so much for your response! All of my settings are set to TRUE and the post capability type still says “post.” I’m trying to add a post type called “Events.” As far as copying and pasting “tools,” can you please be a little more specific? When I go to my dashboard and click “tools,” I don’t see anything to copy and paste. Sorry, I’m a designer, and wp tech is not my forté.

In the CPTUI admin menu, there should be a “Tools” submenu item, once clicked there, you’ll see like 4 tabs along the top, and on “Post Types” immediately. On the right will be a big blob of text to paste to me.

Alternatively for a potential quick win, did you set a menu position value that you can un-set?

Micheal, Thanks so much for being stellar. I had set up the Custom Fields plugin first and had put “Events” as a name of a field group. Once I removed that, I tried to make the Post Type again and it worked. I guess there was a conflict. Any insight you can give me on why this may have happened would help to unknot my brain a bit! I’m glad it’s figured out for now. Thanks so much for your help. I’m gonna write you guys a nice review. Keep up the great work!

I would need to be pointed to the Custom Fields plugin in question and do some digging in to observe potential conflicts to have a good lead on this, as I don’t know off the top of my head.

That said, glad you got this working as a whole and are off to the races here.
