• The only thing I can do in the new editor is type text.

Missting features of the new editor:

    – The icon with the + sign in a circle is always shaded out
    – There is no visible edit toolbar for indentation, adding a link, etc.
    – There is no preview list of existing Tags. So if I don’t remember the one I want, I can’t add it to the post.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Nineteen theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

There currently is no tag preview, but as you start typing a tag, WordPress will make suggestions from tags you have already used.

@andy2mary Go to the Users Menu, and select “Your Profile”.

On this new screen, the first option is “Disable the visual editor when writing”. Make sure that is *unchecked*, and then save the setting.

If the Visual Editor is not enabled, you won’t get the block editor, just a basic text field with no bells or whistles.
