New gallery creation failed

    I have a problem creating a new gallery on a WP 4.9.8 / Photo Gallery 1.4.17 site.

    When I create a new gallery, I can select media and even create a new folder on the site (ruling out access rights on the host), but when I try to save or publish the gallery it does not get created, instead I get the message “failed”.

    I have run a consistency check on the database and can create rows in the gallery table manually.

    I have also disabled security plug-ins to rule out these blocking the call to the database.

    What else could it be?

    Please note that if you do not have a lot of Galleries, please try to uninstall the Photo gallery Plugin and reinstall it.

    Re-installing the plug-in did fix the problem, but gave me an idea which did.

    This was the solution:

    1. Deactivate the plug-in
    2. Export all of the bwg tables to SQL files, but only the data without the structure
    3. Delete the tables manually from the database
    4. Reactivate the plug-in, automatically re-creating the tables in the process
    5. Import the bwg table contents back into the database
