• Hi.

My website have so many plugins, so many template tags, and I am on pingdom.com always slow. I decided to try responsive theme, it’s named “Responsive”. Very fast theme. While I code it today on xampp, postratings, postviews, colapssible content, and so on.
Now, 1 hour ago, I uploaded that theme to test it, difference is no where, 0.05seconds faster than Arras. I quit, I already have two themes, I don’t need more.
I have Arras and I grab treeview while it was free, now I see theme is taken down from magpress.com.

Now I am thinking, how usefull are those plugins, if we need to code so hard. It is almost like making new theme.
More plugins, heavy website, even after plugin deletion.

I can’t make deal with myself what to do. 😀
Shud I install new wordpress, lost all this hard work, and now without plugins, just use html.
When I see it from another view, it is almost imposible to have wordpress without plugins.

My website have nicelly coded wordpress, buddypress, phpbb, ads, many translated plugins.

I don’t know what to do.

So I am here to ask, does anyone have such problems, or I am the only one who have headache, coz of such things.

PS: Sorry, my English is not so good.
And, I can upload child “Video Theme” for Responsive, if I can do that, and if someone needs it, coz I will delete it anyway.

  • Not sure I can help you too much, a lot goes into load times for a site, the server setup at your host is probably a key factor. If you’re able to spend a little more money you could get hosting at a dedicated WordPress company and you’ll likely see much better speeds, and they could also help you optimize it. The main comment I wanted to make is if it’s the same theme I’ve used, Responsive is not necessarily optimized for page load, it’s a responsive design:

Anyway it sounds like you’re doing a lot with the site if you have all those features. There’s going to be a payload involved no matter how that stuff is implemented (WordPress or otherwise). The ads in particular can cause issues since they often pull from other servers. If you want to provide the URL then maybe someone can offer suggestions for you.
